Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has broken his silence regarding his suspension from the party, dismissing claims that he was working as an informant or planning to join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party. His absence from the EFF’s National People’s Assembly in December had fueled intense speculation, which he now addresses directly.

    Ndlozi Confirms EFF Suspension

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a prominent figure in the EFF, confirmed in an interview with SABC News that he was suspended from the party approximately six weeks before its national elective conference. This revelation puts to rest earlier speculation surrounding his absence.

“I was suspended about six weeks before the conference,” Ndlozi stated, adding that his suspension was “unconventional” and did not align with the EFF’s code of conduct or constitution. According to him, the party’s leadership accused him of working with the MK party, a claim he strongly denies.

    Allegations of Betrayal and Infiltration

Ndlozi explained that his suspension rested on two main allegations. Firstly, the EFF leadership allegedly received an intelligence report accusing him of being part of an infiltration strategy by the MK party, led by former President Jacob Zuma.

“The leadership claimed that it’s in possession of an intelligence report stating that I’m part of the infiltration strategy by the MKP, that I’m working with them and planning to join them at an opportune moment,” he revealed.

The second allegation centered around Floyd Shivambu’s defection from the EFF to the MK party. Ndlozi was accused of knowing about Shivambu’s move beforehand and failing to inform the party leadership.

“I was told to stay at home, cease my participation in Parliament and EFF activities,” Ndlozi said, adding that he was assured an opportunity to clear his name once an investigation was concluded. However, the leadership later decided that the report would only be reviewed after the conference.

    Ndlozi Denies Being an Informant

Ndlozi refuted the notion that he was disloyal or an informant, calling the allegations against him “dangerous.”

“These are very serious allegations—that one had betrayed the revolution, had been disloyal, and was a double agent of some sort,” he said.

He emphasized that he did not act as an informant regarding Shivambu’s departure. While he was aware of Shivambu’s plans, he believed it was not his place to report them.

“He did come to tell me of his consideration, and indeed I did tell him that he would have to take the leadership into confidence—and he did,” Ndlozi explained. “The idea that I should have run behind his back and informed the leadership suggests that I’m an informant or a wedge driver. I am none of those.”

No Plans to Join MK Party

Addressing widespread speculation about his political future, Ndlozi categorically denied any intention of joining the MK party.

“I can state categorically now that I never planned to join the MKP, and I still don’t. I never worked with anybody in the MKP in relation to some conspiracy about my departure,” he stated firmly.

Ndlozi suggested that any information linking him to the MK party was “based largely on lies.” He reiterated that he remains focused on clearing his name and moving forward with his political career.

    What’s Next for Ndlozi?

While Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has stepped down as an MP, his next political move remains uncertain. Given his influence and strong public following, his next steps will be closely watched.

The full interview with Ndlozi is expected to air on Monday, providing further insights into his perspective on the EFF suspension, betrayal allegations, and his political future.
