The Porsche 911 has long been a symbol of timeless design and performance, and now it welcomes a new chapter with the arrival of the retro-themed 911 Spirit 70 in South Africa. This limited-edition model, priced from R5,056,000 and bundled with a 3-year/100,000km Driveplan, fuses vintage flair with cutting-edge innovation. It’s a bold homage to the expressive and eccentric styling of the 1970s and early 80s, designed for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
A Nostalgic Nod with Modern Flair
The 911 Spirit 70 marks the third installment in Porsche’s Heritage Design series, a project aimed at recapturing the stylistic essence of bygone eras. This latest model channels the flamboyant spirit of the disco decade with an all-new exterior shade dubbed Olive Neo, a deep green hue that’s accented by tasteful Bronzite finishes on the front, rear, and signature Sport Classic wheels.

Subtle yet striking design elements continue throughout – from a black soft-top and windscreen frame to three silk-gloss black stripes stretching across the bonnet and flowing into the fabric roof. These stripes mimic the safety stickers once used by high-speed motorists in the 70s to enhance visibility.
Vintage Badging and Exclusive Details
Honoring Porsche’s heritage, the Spirit 70 wears a nearly identical replica of the original 1963 Porsche crest on its bonnet. The sides of the car feature black silk-gloss Porsche lettering alongside retro-styled round number fields, while gold-coloured Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur badges and Heritage insignia adorn the front wings and rear grille.
To add even more vintage appeal, the rear also features galvanised, gold-plated model lettering – a nod to the opulence and flair of the 70s.

A Cabin of Character
Inside, the Spirit 70’s cockpit is a design masterclass. The focal point? Porsche’s iconic Pasha seat fabric in a black and olive neo pattern, reminiscent of a moving chequered flag. This bold textile, once a hallmark of classic Porsches, graces the seat centres, door inserts, and even the glove compartment.
Premium black leather trim, olive neo contrast stitching, and a textile created with flock yarns elevate the cabin’s tactile and visual appeal. A digital 12.65-inch display with retro-styled green digits and white pointers, along with a matching analogue-style Sport Chrono stopwatch, ties the vintage-modern theme together seamlessly.
As a finishing touch, each Spirit 70 model comes with a custom chronograph wristwatch that mirrors the car’s interior design – including the Pasha motif on its dial.

Under the Hood – Electrified Performance
Beneath the nostalgic styling lies cutting-edge tech. Based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the Spirit 70 debuts Porsche’s new hybrid powertrain – a groundbreaking combination of a newly engineered 3.6-litre flat-six engine, an e-Turbo, and an integrated electric motor within the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
This electrified setup delivers a potent 398kW and 610Nm, propelling the convertible from 0 to 100km/h in a blistering 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 312km/h. It’s a stunning blend of performance and retro appeal.

Porsche 911 Limited Edition Collectibility
Only 1,500 units of the Spirit 70 will be produced globally. While the first models are set to land in Europe by the end of April, South African enthusiasts can already place their orders for this rare slice of Porsche history. With its captivating retro design, modern performance, and exclusive production run, the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is more than just a car – it’s a celebration of timeless style and engineering evolution.
