Lamborghini Urus SE South Africa’s Newest and Most Affordable Lamborghini Supercar
SHARE

Lamborghini, the legendary Italian supercar brand, is currently in the middle of a product-launching spree. In the last year and a half, it has revitalized its supercar lineup, replacing the Aventador with the bold new Revuelto and the Huracan with the dynamic Temerario. But amidst this whirlwind of change, Lamborghini hasn’t lost focus on its high-performing SUV, the Urus, which remains a crucial model, accounting for 60% of the brand’s total sales.

Following its global debut in April, the refreshed Lamborghini Urus SE has now hit South African dealerships, priced at R4,875,000. It’s the most affordable Lamborghini in South Africa but comes packed with enhancements and cutting-edge tech, making it an exciting addition for enthusiasts and prospective buyers alike.

Striking New Design

The Lamborghini Urus SE has received an extensive design makeover, giving it a sharper, more aggressive look that echoes the styling cues of the Revuelto. Updates to the front and rear design add a sinister edge to the Urus, while buyers can now personalize the vehicle with over 100 color options and a choice of wheels that go up to 23 inches in size.

Powerful Hybrid Powertrain

The real transformation lies beneath the hood, where Lamborghini has introduced a hybrid powertrain. The Urus SE combines the previous model’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a 141 kW electric motor, which collectively delivers an impressive 588 kW and 950 Nm of torque. This upgrade not only enhances performance but also makes it faster than before, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds—a full 0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor.

Additionally, the Urus SE now features a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery positioned below the boot. Lamborghini claims it can cover up to 60 km on electric power alone, potentially cutting its tailpipe emissions by up to 80%, depending on charging frequency.

Advanced Chassis Dynamics

Lamborghini’s engineers have enhanced the chassis to deliver even sharper driving dynamics. A new electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle, in combination with the central electric torque vectoring system, allows the Urus SE to handle corners more adeptly and even encourages controlled drifts.

Redesigned Interior and Customization Options

Inside the cabin, the Urus SE offers an upgraded experience with a larger 12.3-inch central infotainment display that boasts updated graphics. Lamborghini has also expanded the personalization options, with 47 different interior color combinations and four types of embroidery available, allowing buyers to tailor their vehicle’s interior to their personal taste.

Enhanced Driving Modes and EV Options

Drivers of the Urus SE can choose between six main driving modes tailored for road and track use—Strada, Sport, and Corsa—or for off-road scenarios—Neve, Sabbia, and Terra. Additionally, four new “Electric Performance Strategies” add further flexibility with modes such as EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge, enabling the Urus SE to optimize power usage based on driving conditions.

Lamborghini’s product line director, Stefano Cossalter, describes the Urus SE as a critical step in the brand’s evolution, combining groundbreaking technical innovations with a focus on reducing CO₂ emissions, without compromising performance.
