Tourism Month in Gauteng

When: Friday, 1 September, 12:00 to 17:00 – Sunday, 3 September 2023, 9:00 – 15:00

Where: Voortrekker Monument.

Friday, 1 September: Adults Online – R60, Adults Door – R80, Kids Online R40, Kids Door – R50

Saturday, 2 September – Sunday, 3 September: Adults Online – R100, Adults Door R120, Kids Online R40, Kids Door – R50

Free entry for kids under 12.

The South African 4×4 & Outdoor Show is a high-quality and jam-packed event that sets the benchmark for the 4×4 & Outdoor industry in SA and kicks off tourism month in Gauteng. It is an exclusive show that offers on-stage live entertainment in the beer garden and various demonstrations of the products on display. There will be plenty for the kids to do, a brand-new art- and craft market, and a great variety of food stalls. Come and enjoy this out-of-this-world experience with many other 4×4 enthusiasts.

Galaxy 947 Joburg Day

Tourism Month in Gauteng

Where: Crocodile Creek Polo Club, Botasdal Farm, Lanseria.

Tickets:

Adults – R450, Kids aged 12 to 18 – R250.

Special Family Package (Two adults and two kids) – R1,300

Galaxy 947 Joburg Day is known for its spectacular lineup of local artists that deliver top-class performances to mesmerise you. The festival grounds will be buzzing with energy, creating a memorable experience for music lovers aged 12 and above, from all walks of life.

Soweto Burger Festival

Tourism Month in Gauteng

When: Saturday, 2 September 2023, 12:00 – 18:00

Where: Old Kaizer Chiefs Soccer Ground, Phefeni, Soweto.

Tickets:

Adults – R70, Kids – R40

The Soweto Burger Festival makes the tourism month in Gauteng list because it is the first of its kind. It will be bringing different types of burgers and many other activities to enjoy!

Annual Soweto Kota Festival

Tourism Month in Gauteng

When: Saturday, 2 September – Sunday, 3 September 2023

Where: Soweto Cricket Oval, Dobsonville, Soweto.

Tickets:

Adults – R90, Kids – R50  

Kids ages are between 4 and 12 years. Kids under 4 years don’t pay.

If you are looking for an extravagant food adventure… then mark your calendar for Joburg’s award-winning township street food festival! Bring an empty stomach so that you and your loved ones can indulge in a mixture of delicious flavours!

This event will offer its visitors over 40 Kota outlets from all over Gauteng who will be ready to serve Kotas that graduated top of their classes. This 6th annual Blue Ribbon Soweto Kota Festival will be bigger and better; kids’ entertainment will include activities like Jumping Castle, Face Painting, Digital Games, and more. There will be live performances from top DJs and lots of prizes to be given away on both days. Come expecting great and unforgettable experiences at this tourism month in Gauteng honourable mention.

Spring Jazz at NIROX 2023

When: Sunday, 3 September 2023, 10:00 – 17:00

Where: NIROX Sculpture Park, R540, Kromdraai Road, Krugersdorp.

Tickets:

Early-Bird Tickets – R500.

Adults – General Admission – R600, Final Admission Tickets – R700

Children aged 12 and under enter free of charge.

Over the last decade, NIROX has hosted many jazz artists, providing a platform for them to showcase their talents. These artists have since graced global stages, and this year the event welcomes some favourites back home and to tourism month in Gauteng. Each is invited to revisit the Cradle of Humankind with thein unique expression and journey.

Jazz lovers must come to enjoy a day of eclectic, world-class performances courtesy of some of the finest South African jazz artists in the NIROX amphitheatre, including:

  • Melanie Scholtz – arriving from New York – performing with her ensemble Bokani Dyer (keys), Benjamin Jephta (bass), and Marlon Witbooi (drums).
  • The Offering – featuring the talents of Ndabo Zulu (trumpet), Linda Sikhakhane (saxophone), Zibusiso Makhathini (keys), Dalisu Ndlazi (bass), Sphelelo Mazibuko (drums) and Gontse Makhene (percussion).
  • Vivid Afrika reunites for the first time in years to present their unique flavour combination of Siya Makuzeni (trombone & voice), McCoy Mrubata (tenor saxophone & flute), Greg Georgiades (oud, bazouki & acoustic guitar), Mlungisi Gegana (double bass), Ashish Joshi (tabla & percussion) and Bernice Boikanyo (drums).
  • Benjamin Jephta’s Sextet brings another dimension to the musical mixture with Keenan Ahrends (guitar), Sisonke Xonti (tenor saxophone), Simon Manana (tenor saxophone), Danni McKinnon (baritone saxophone), Thomas Dyani (percussion), and Sphelelo Mazibuko (drums).

Gourmet cuisine and drinks will be available at the venue for purchase.

FNB Art Joburg

Tourism Month in Gauteng

When: Friday, 8 September, 11:00 to 20:00 – Sunday, 10 September, 11:00 to 17:00

Where: Sandton Convention Centre.

Adults Day Visitor – R150, Weekend Pass – R360, Thursday VIP Pass – R1,500

Africa’s leading and longest-running contemporary art fair, FNB Art Joburg will return to Sandton Convention Centre for its 16th edition. The Tourism Month in Gauteng feature will offer the best in contemporary African art, featuring works from Stevenson, MOMO Outskirts, and Lebogang Kganye.

Savanna Presents: Trevor Noah in South Africa

When: Tuesday, 12 September 2023, 18:30 – 22:30 (other dates are sold out)

Where: SunBet Arena, Pretoria.

Savanna Presents Global Comedy Heavyweight Trevor Noah Live in South Africa 2023. It’s official: the Son of Patricia is coming home! Savanna Premium Cider presents a global comedy force, the one and only Trevor Noah, for a long overdue South African tour in Spring 2023, just in time for Tourism Month in Gauteng.

Trevor says: “I’ve been away from Mzansi stages for too long and so much has happened – I’m excited to be back in front of a home crowd.” He is enjoying being back on the road after a 2-year Covid-19 break and looking forward to dazzling comedy lovers with his signature blend of honest personal reflection, biting satire, and observational humour.
