In a deeply emotional turn of events, Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has officially withdrawn from the prestigious Miss Universe 2024 competition just hours before the grand finale in Mexico City. The Miss South Africa Organisation shared the announcement in a statement, confirming that Le Roux’s withdrawal was due to health reasons. It was revealed that the 28-year-old, diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one, has been struggling with severe vertigo during her time in Mexico. This condition, exacerbated by her hearing impairment, ultimately necessitated her stepping back from the competition.
Le Roux expressed her gratitude to South Africans for their unwavering support, stating:
“Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me. However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”
