Bethuel Muzeu Shares Dream to Play for Kaizer Chiefs
Currently on the books of another South African side, Black Leopards, Namibia international striker Bethuel Muzeu reveals his dream to play for Kaizer Chiefs, a club he says he loves dearly.
Muzeu is banging in goals for the Thohoyandou-based Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, but he is dreaming big, of donning the gold and black Amakhosi shirt.
The 23-year-old Brave Warriors international was part of the national side which was in the same group as Bafana Bafana at the ongoing Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast.
Despite their early exit in the group stages, Muzeu says he wants to play in the Soweto Derby for Chiefs and face their old nemesis, Orlando Pirates.
Under coach Collin Benjamin, Namibia qualified for the Afcon knockout stages for the first time in history.
On top of that, the South West Africans also made history after beating Tunisia 1-0 to secure their maiden victory as Muzeu provided an assist for Pirates winger Deon Hotto’s goal.
Speaking to iDiski Times after their Afcon exit where they were demolished 4-0 by coach Hugo Broos’ Bafana troops, Muzeu also talks about players who inspired him to play for Chiefs.
“The dream is to play far, to make your name high,” Namibia international, Muzeu told iDiski Times.
“So every chance you get you must use it. So to be honest, my dream is to play for Kaizer Chiefs.
“So one day is one day I will make it and I believe God will help me.”
Currently led by the reigning joint DStv Premiership Top Goalscorer and Mamelodi Sundowns goal poacher, Peter Shalulile in the national squad – Muzeu looks to take a different route to join Masandawana rivals.
He added that Chiefs legends such as Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala made him fall in love with the Glamour Boys.
“I grew up watching Kaizer Chiefs, the likes of Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, [Bernard] Parker, Pule Ekstein. I grew up watching those guys,” added Muzeu.
“They made my football era growing up to be so wonderful. I grew up watching them and it’s my dream team and one day I’m going to play there.”
Judging his statistics in the South African lower division, Muzeu has bagged an impressive 10 goals for Lidoda Duvha who are desperate to return to the elite division.
Meanwhile, with Chiefs still in search of a permanent coach and heavily linked with Pitso Mosimane, it remains to be seen if they will consider tabling an offer for the ambitious Muzeu.
