Gauteng: Mild and Clear Skies

In Gauteng, today’s weather is cool in the early hours and warms up gradually through the day. Pretoria will reach a pleasant 22°C after a morning low of 12°C, while Johannesburg will stay slightly cooler at 21°C. Light winds and clear skies make it a great day for commuting, outdoor work, and social activities.

UV levels are climbing as spring progresses, so remember sunscreen and hydration if you’re spending extended time outdoors.

Western Cape: Hot in Cape Town

Cape Town is heating up, reaching a high of 30°C today — one of the warmest temperatures in the country. Morning lows around 15°C will make way for sunny skies and strong afternoon warmth. A light northwesterly breeze will help moderate the heat slightly, but inland regions may feel quite hot.

Today’s weather is ideal for early beach visits or mountain hikes before midday, as temperatures peak between 12:00 and 15:00. Residents should be cautious of dehydration during outdoor activities.

KwaZulu-Natal: Pleasant and Breezy

Durban’s today’s weather offers calm, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 14°C and 22°C. The coastal breeze will bring relief during the afternoon, and humidity levels remain comfortable. It’s an excellent day for outdoor events, light exercise, or enjoying the promenade.

Further inland, temperatures may be slightly higher, but overall conditions will stay pleasant. Rain is not expected across KwaZulu-Natal today.

Free State: Warm and Dry

Bloemfontein’s today’s weather is clear and dry, with temperatures climbing from a morning low of 11°C to a high of 24°C. The day will be dominated by sunshine, light winds, and low humidity typical for early spring in the Free State.

It’s a perfect day for farming and outdoor travel, but locals are advised to take care around open fields as fire danger remains moderate due to dry air and rising afternoon heat.

Limpopo: Cool Morning, Warm Afternoon

Polokwane will experience one of the cooler mornings in the country at 10°C before warming up to 19°C in the afternoon. Today’s weather is comfortable for travel and outdoor business, with no rainfall expected. The air will remain dry and crisp throughout the day.

Residents should take note of changing conditions later in the week, but for now, clear skies and light winds will dominate.

Northern Cape: Hot and Sunny

Upington stands out again for its heat, reaching 31°C under mostly clear skies. The morning low of 19°C offers a short-lived break before temperatures rise quickly after sunrise.

Today’s weather poses a high fire risk, so caution is advised, especially in agricultural areas. It’s recommended to limit outdoor labour during peak hours between noon and 3 PM when the heat is at its highest. The day will end with a warm, calm evening typical of the Kalahari region.

Eastern Cape: Mild and Comfortable

Port Elizabeth enjoys a pleasant day with a high of 24°C and a morning low of 10°C. Light winds and clear skies make for perfect driving and beach conditions. East London will be slightly warmer, reaching 25°C, with a gentle sea breeze to cool the afternoon.

Today’s weather across the Eastern Cape supports safe travel, calm seas, and excellent conditions for outdoor activities. It’s a great day for both residents and visitors along the Sunshine Coast.

National Summary

Today’s weather across South Africa reflects the country’s diverse climate. The interior regions — especially the Free State and Northern Cape — are heating up fast, while coastal cities enjoy moderate, stable conditions.

  • Hottest city: Upington (31°C)
  • Coolest morning: Polokwane (10°C)
  • Best coastal conditions: Port Elizabeth and Durban

No significant rainfall is expected, but wind speeds may increase slightly in coastal areas by late evening. Inland, calm and dry air will continue to dominate through the day.

Today’s weather is ideal for most outdoor plans, road trips, and events nationwide. As South Africa moves deeper into spring, longer sunny days are becoming the norm, and temperatures will continue to rise. Whether you’re in Cape Town’s heat or Johannesburg’s calm sunshine, the day promises comfortable and enjoyable conditions.
