The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that three South African clubs have made the shortlist for the CAF Club of the Year award.

CAF confirmed the top 10 clubs in Africa vying for the coveted accolade, and South Africa stands tall with three teams earning recognition for their impressive performances in the 2023/24 campaign.
Defending Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, and rising Western Cape side Stellenbosch FC have all been nominated for their consistent displays both domestically and on the continental stage.

Mamelodi Sundowns, known for their dominance in the local league and strong CAF Champions League campaigns, were an expected inclusion. Orlando Pirates’ return to form and cup success also secured them a well-deserved spot.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC’s remarkable rise including their first taste of continental football earned them a place among Africa’s elite, further proving their rapid growth in South African football.
