BMW has officially unveiled the facelifted version of its high-performance XM SUV, introducing a refined model range that now revolves solely around a single, renamed variant—the XM Label. Originally launched two years ago and known as the most powerful M-badged vehicle to date, the XM has undergone a subtle yet strategic mid-life refresh aimed at streamlining the lineup and enhancing both style and functionality.
Streamlined Identity: Goodbye Red Label
In a significant move, BMW has discontinued the “Red Label” naming, rebranding the vehicle simply as the XM Label. This new designation brings uniformity to the model range and simplifies the offering for customers, with the revised model set to replace all previous variants.

Visually, the facelift doesn’t stray far from the original, but it does receive some modern enhancements. Notable updates include standard 22-inch M light alloy wheels in place of the previous 21-inch versions, optional 23-inch gloss black M wheels, and a gloss black finish around the kidney grille. The red accents seen on the Red Label are now removed. A new Frozen Tanzanite Blue paint colour has also been added from the BMW Individual catalogue, complemented by a new welcome animation.
Interior Refresh: Premium Comfort Options
The cabin maintains its layout and tech but introduces fresh upholstery options to enhance the overall ambiance. New choices include black Merino leather with Coffee Brown detailing, and Silverstone Merino leather with contrasting black detailing. These are the only changes made to the interior for this update.

The XM Label continues with its powerful plug-in hybrid setup, pairing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor. While the power output remains the same, charging speed has improved. The 25.7-kWh battery now supports AC charging up to 11 kW, up from the previous 7.4 kW.

South African Market: Arrival Confirmed
BMW has confirmed that the updated XM Label will be coming to South Africa, although an official launch date has yet to be announced. The vehicle is set to make its global debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In Germany, pricing starts at €183,400, which converts to approximately R3,767,919. Given that the current Red Label model is priced from R3,650,000 locally, the new XM Label can be expected to carry a slight premium.

This latest update brings small but meaningful improvements to the XM. From its cleaner exterior and new interior trims to faster charging and simplified model naming, the XM Label is designed to refine rather than reinvent. It sets the stage for BMW’s high-performance hybrid future while continuing to deliver bold styling and exceptional power.
