City Power Reschedules Roosevelt Park Substation Maintenance for 30 May — Fairlands, Northcliff & Berario to be Affected
Johannesburg residents in Region B are being alerted to an 8-hour planned power outage scheduled for Friday, 30 May 2025. According to a formal announcement by City Power Johannesburg, this outage is essential for scheduled maintenance at the Roosevelt Park Substation.
Originally planned for 25 February 2025, the outage has now been officially rescheduled. It will run from 08:30 to 16:30, affecting several high-density residential areas.
Affected Areas
The following suburbs will experience a complete power shutdown during the maintenance window:
- Fairlands
- Northcliff
- Berario

Why the Power Outage?
City Power explains that the maintenance is vital to improving and securing the reliability of the power supply in the affected suburbs. The work includes technical upgrades and inspections to prevent unplanned future outages.
“The interruption is necessary to do essential maintenance work on our network, which is part of our program of constantly striving to provide a better service,” says City Power.
