Canadian Rapper Tory Lanez Hospitalised After Brutal Stabbing Incident Behind Bars
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, is recovering after being stabbed 14 times in prison. The incident took place on Monday, 12 May, and Lanez was rushed to the hospital. Despite the severity of his injuries, his team reports that he is in good spirits and grateful to be alive.
Details of the Incident
Lanez was attacked by another inmate identified as Santino Casio, who is serving a life sentence for second-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder. Casio has a long history of in-prison violence, including a 2008 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and a 2018 conviction for manufacturing a weapon in prison.
The attack left Lanez with multiple stab wounds: seven on his back, four on his torso, two on the back of his head, and one on the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. Fortunately, Lanez is now breathing independently.
Official Statement
Lanez’s team released a statement confirming his recovery process:
“Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
The news of Lanez’s condition has stirred concern among fans and fellow artists alike. Social media has been flooded with messages wishing him a speedy recovery.
Lanez’s Legal Troubles
Lanez’s imprisonment follows his conviction in 2022 for assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm. The charges stem from a July 2020 incident where Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion during an argument in Los Angeles. After being found guilty on all charges, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in August 2023.
Public Reaction and Support
Fans and celebrities have taken to social media to express their concern and support for the rapper. Many are shocked by the brutal nature of the attack and are rallying around Lanez during his recovery.
