Black Coffee responds to social media backlash over his relationship with Victoria Gonzalez, addressing comparisons to his ex-wife Enhle Mbali.
South African DJ and producer Black Coffee has publicly addressed the social media backlash surrounding his relationship with Venezuelan model Victoria Gonzalez. The couple, who have been linked since 2023, recently faced online scrutiny when a social media user compared Gonzalez to Black Coffee’s ex-wife, actress Enhle Mbali.
In response to a post that juxtaposed images of Gonzalez and Mbali with the caption “Upgrade or downgrade,” Black Coffee retorted with a derogatory Xhosa term directed at the user. He further emphasised his stance by sharing a meme of fellow artist Sizwe Alakine, who has faced similar public scrutiny over his personal relationships.
A Blossoming Relationship and Public Scrutiny
Despite the online criticism, Black Coffee and Gonzalez have been openly sharing moments from their relationship on social media. Gonzalez travelled to South Africa to celebrate his birthday in March and has since accompanied him on various international gigs. She has also met his children and mother, indicating a serious commitment between the two.
Enhle Mbali’s Perspective
Enhle Mbali, who divorced the DJ in 2019, has also been vocal about moving on from their past. In a recent Instagram Live session, she expressed her desire for the public to respect her privacy and acknowledged that she is in a new relationship, stating, “Ngiyajola [I’m in a relationship], guys. And kumnandi [it is amazing]. Ngiyekeleni [leave me alone] I have a freedom that I enjoy.”
Public Reactions and the Importance of Respect
The public’s reaction to Black Coffee’s new relationship shows the challenges celebrities face in maintaining personal boundaries. While fans may feel invested in their favourite stars’ lives, it’s crucial to approach such matters with empathy and respect for their privacy.
