Three SAPS officers found deceased in Hennops River; VW Polo recovered as investigation continues
Latest Update on the Police Officers Found at Hennops River
In a heartbreaking development, South African authorities have recovered the bodies of three missing police officers from the Hennops River near Centurion. The officers—Constables Keamogetswe Buys (30), Boipelo Senoge (20), and Cebekhulu Linda (24)—had been missing since April 24, 2025, after being last seen at a petrol station near the Grasmere Toll Plaza while travelling from Bloemfontein to Limpopo.

Discovery and Recovery Efforts
After an extensive search operation involving SAPS divers, drone units, and rescue teams, the missing white VW Polo sedan was retrieved from the Hennops River on May 1, 2025. Inside the vehicle, personal items, including a handbag, were found, corroborating the identities of the deceased officers.
In total, five bodies were recovered from the river, including the three officers, an administration clerk from the Lyttelton Police Station, and one unidentified individual.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has urged the public to refrain from speculation as investigations continue to determine the circumstances leading to this tragedy. Authorities are exploring all possibilities, including whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play.
Specialised units, including SAPS drone teams, cybercrime experts, the Hawks, Gauteng Traffic Airwing, and Bidvest Protea Coin Airwing, are actively involved in the ongoing investigation.
Community Response
In Bloemfontein, a prayer session was organised to offer comfort and solidarity to the bereaved families and police personnel. Commissioner Masemola expressed hope that the retrieval of the vehicle and bodies would bring some measure of closure to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers.
