Key Dates for UNISA Semester 2 Applications

Mark these dates in your calendar:

  • Applications Open: Monday, 14 April 2025
  • Applications Close: Thursday, 9 May 2025

Applications will not be accepted after the closing date, so it’s essential to apply early to avoid last-minute issues or system delays.

What Courses Are Available?

1. Limited Undergraduate Qualifications

Semester 2 applications are only open for selected undergraduate programs, including:

  • Diplomas in Education and Business
  • Degrees in Social Sciences, Public Administration, and related fields
  • UNISA online short learning programs

🔍 Always check the official UNISA website to confirm which undergraduate qualifications are available for Semester 2.

2. Honours Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas

Students who have already completed an undergraduate degree can apply for:

  • Honours Degrees in areas such as Education, Public Management, and Social Work
  • Postgraduate Diplomas in Finance, Marketing, and Teaching

3. Master’s and Doctoral Degrees

Applications for selected master’s and doctoral qualifications are also open. These programs are geared toward students pursuing advanced academic or professional research.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for UNISA Semester 2

Step 1: Check Available Qualifications

Visit www.unisa.ac.za and browse the list of programs offered for Semester 2.

Step 2: Create a myUnisa Account

If you’re a first-time applicant, you’ll need to register a myUnisa account to manage your application.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents

Ensure you have the following:

  • Certified copy of your ID or passport
  • Certified copy of your matric certificate or academic records
  • Proof of payment (if required)
  • Any additional documentation based on your chosen qualification
All documents must be PDFs, clearly scanned, and not older than 6 months.

Step 4: Submit Your Application

Login to your myUnisa profile and complete the online application. Carefully read all instructions and ensure your application is complete before submission.

Application Fee

A non-refundable fee of R135.00 applies for each new application. Use your student number as the payment reference to avoid delays.

Tips for a Successful Application

  • Apply as early as possible within the UNISA Semester 2 application window.
  • Use a computer or visit your local library or internet café if your phone isn’t reliable.
  • Organize your documents in advance to avoid scrambling at the last minute.
  • Contact UNISA if you’re unsure about any part of the process.

Where to Get Help

UNISA provides multiple support channels for applicants:

  • Visit a UNISA regional office near you
  • Use the online FAQs and application guides
  • Call the UNISA Call Centre at 0800 005 311 (free from Telkom landlines)
  • Find email addresses under the “Contact Us” section on the UNISA website

Why Choose UNISA?

UNISA offers a unique advantage for students who need flexibility:

  • Study from anywhere in South Africa
  • Work while studying with flexible schedules
  • Affordable tuition compared to traditional universities
  • Accredited and internationally recognized qualifications

UNISA is particularly popular among students in LSM 1 to 7 due to its accessibility and convenience, making it an ideal choice for working adults, parents, and students in underserved communities.

What Happens After You Apply?

  • You’ll receive an SMS or email confirmation once your application is received.
  • If any documents are missing, UNISA will request them via email or SMS.
  • If accepted, you’ll receive a formal offer letter with details on how to register.

🛑 Important: Keep an eye on your emails and SMS inbox for updates!

The 2025 UNISA Semester 2 Applications offer a second chance for many aspiring students to access quality education. Whether you’re planning to pursue a diploma, degree, or postgraduate qualification, UNISA’s open distance learning model can fit into your life—no matter where you live or work.

Take the first step toward your future by applying before 9 May 2025. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to shape your destiny through education.
