Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set to boost their transfer budget to R80 million for the upcoming season as they aim to build a more competitive squad. This marks a significant rise from last season’s initial R50 million allocation, which was later increased to R60 million during the January transfer window.

According to sources close to the club, Amakhosi have already finalised this budget for the winter transfer window, with the potential to adjust it again in January 2026, should additional reinforcements be required. An insider revealed that the decision to increase spending reflects the club’s ambition to secure higher-quality players.
“It’s believed that the club has set aside R80 million for transfers. Last season, they started with R50 million before raising it to R60 million in January. This time, they are increasing it by R20 million to focus on quality signings. Their intentions appear serious with this improved budget,” the source explained.
Targeting Key Positions
Another insider indicated that Chiefs plan to bring in at least four to five players to strengthen crucial areas. The club is reportedly looking to sign a goalkeeper, left-back, winger, central midfielder, and striker, with an additional signing likely based on technical team recommendations.
“They have identified the positions they need to reinforce and are looking at securing four to five players. A goalkeeper, left-back, winger, midfielder, and striker are on their list, with the possibility of adding another player if needed. Given the budget, this approach makes sense,” the second source added.

Several players have already been linked with moves to Naturena. Among them are goalkeeper Xolani Ngcobo, left-back Fawaaz Basadien, right-back Lungelo Bhengu, midfielders Neo Maema and Feisal Salum, and striker Fiston Mayele. Chiefs have yet to comment on these speculations.
