The new Ford Tourneo Custom Active introduced into the South African market, positioning it as the entry-level model in the series.

    Affordable Entry Point

The new Active variant sets the starting price for the Tourneo Custom range at R1,050,000, marking a reduction of R26,000 compared to the previously lowest-priced Trend model.

    Features and Specifications

To achieve the lower price, Ford has omitted some non-essential interior features found in the Trend model. These include dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, driver and passenger armrests, and a wireless charger. Despite these adjustments, the new Active model retains nearly all other features found in the Trend variant.

Additionally, USB ports are available for both front and rear passengers.

The Ford Driver Assistance Pack comes as standard, offering intelligent speed assistance with cruise control and speed sign recognition, collision mitigation, a driver impairment monitor, lane-keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, tyre-pressure monitoring, hill-start assist, and ABS with emergency braking.

    Safety and Seating Configuration

For occupant protection, the Tourneo Custom Active is equipped with front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, rear curtain airbags, and Isofix child-seat mounting points on all three second-row seats and the two outer seats in the third row. Two-stage door unlocking and power door dead-locking functions further enhance security.

Like its sibling, the Active variant features a flexible track-mounted seating system in the second and third rows, allowing owners to adjust the cabin layout to suit their needs. The second-row seats can be moved independently, while the third-row seats are split into a two/one configuration. The tracked seating allows for sliding the seats forward or backward along notched tracks in the rear cabin floor. Additionally, the seats can be rotated to create a six-person conference setup or removed entirely to maximize cargo space up to 6.8 cubic metres.

    Design and Powertrain

One of the key visual differences between the Active and the Trend models is the removal of privacy glass on the side and rear windows, replaced with a light tint. The dual sliding side doors now come with pull-up blinds for added privacy.

Powering the Tourneo Custom Active is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that delivers 100kW and 360Nm of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The vehicle offers four selectable drive modes—Normal, Eco, Slippery, and Tow/Haul—to adapt to various driving conditions. When utilizing the Tow/Haul mode, the Tourneo Custom range can tow a trailer of up to 2,500kg.

Fuel consumption averages 7.4L/100km, granting the Tourneo Custom a potential range of up to 946km on a full tank. Additionally, the model includes a 20-litre AdBlue tank, a diesel exhaust additive that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions.

    Pricing and Warranty

The revised pricing for the Ford Tourneo Custom line-up in South Africa is as follows:

    • Ford Tourneo Custom Trend – R1,076,000

With its competitive pricing and extensive feature list, the new Ford Tourneo Custom Active offers South African buyers an affordable and versatile people mover while maintaining the quality and functionality of its predecessors.
