BMW has officially revealed the M3 CS Touring, the second iteration of its high-performance estate, following the debut of the G80-based M3 Touring last year. This latest addition builds upon the existing M3 CS sedan, maintaining its impressive power and specifications while adopting the practicality of the estate format. With its enhanced performance, lightweight materials, and aggressive styling, the M3 CS Touring is set to be a benchmark for high-performance estates.

    Power and Performance

Ranked as the second most powerful combustion-powered estate ever produced by BMW’s M division, the M3 CS Touring retains the same high-output configuration as the sedan variant. Under the hood, it boasts a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine (S58), delivering an impressive 405kW and 650Nm of torque. This power enables the estate to achieve a blistering 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds and a 0-200 km/h sprint in 11.7 seconds. With the optional M Driver’s Package, its electronically limited top speed extends to 300 km/h.

Power is channeled through an eight-speed ZF-sourced Steptronic transmission, with the ability to send torque to all four wheels or switch to a rear-wheel-drive mode for an exhilarating, driver-focused experience. The inclusion of the Active M Differential enhances the car’s agility, ensuring optimal power distribution to the wheels.

    Distinctive CS Exterior Enhancements

Set to make its public debut at the Bathurst 12 Hours in Australia, the M3 CS Touring distinguishes itself from the standard M3 Touring with several exterior upgrades. It rides on exclusive matte black or gold bronze M light alloy wheels—19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear. Additionally, it features a frameless kidney grille with red pinstriping and black accents, M3 CS-specific badges, and striking yellow Laserlight LED headlights.

Weight reduction plays a key role in the CS model, with extensive use of carbon fibre cutting approximately 15 kg compared to the standard M3 Touring. Components such as the front lip spoiler, mirror caps, side skirts, diffuser, bonnet, and side intakes are all crafted from carbon fibre. However, the estate body style prevents the use of a carbon fibre roof.

A model-specific roof spoiler, a red-bordered M3 CS badge on the tailgate, and a choice of four exterior colours—Frozen White, Laguna Seca Blue, British Racing Green, and Sapphire Black Metallic—further enhance its aggressive appearance. Red or black-painted M Compound brake calipers add to its sporty aesthetic, with the option of M Carbon ceramic brakes featuring red or gold calipers.

    Dynamic Enhancements for Superior Handling

Underneath its aggressive styling, the M3 CS Touring benefits from extensive chassis refinements derived from the sedan. It features electronically controlled adaptive M dampers, a recalibrated M Servotronic power steering system, and a titanium exhaust system. The suspension setup includes revised anti-roll bars, dampers, springs, and axle kinematics, while BMW has fine-tuned the software for the Dynamic Stability Control system.

The inclusion of the Active M differential ensures precise handling and improved traction, making the M3 CS Touring a highly capable performer on both road and track. The weight reduction also contributes to sharper turn-in and greater agility.

    Luxurious and Sporty Interior

Inside, the M3 CS Touring mirrors the sedan’s premium, performance-oriented interior. It incorporates M-specific graphics and menus within the 14.9-inch iDrive infotainment system and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Carbon fibre inlays, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a 12 o’clock marker, an anthracite roofliner, and illuminated M3 CS door sills add to its premium feel.

The cabin also features M seat belts, CS-specific badging on the centre console, and black leather door panels. The standout highlight is the M Carbon bucket seats, which come standard. These lightweight seats, wrapped in Merino leather with carbon fibre backrests, black-and-red stitching, and illuminated M3 CS badges on the headrests, further emphasize the performance pedigree.

    Practicality Meets Performance

One of the key advantages of the Touring version over the sedan is its enhanced practicality. The M3 CS Touring offers a boot capacity ranging from 500 litres to a spacious 1,510 litres with the rear seats folded down, making it a compelling option for those seeking high performance without sacrificing versatility.

In addition to its practicality, the estate body style ensures better weight distribution, contributing to a more balanced driving experience. Whether for daily commutes, spirited weekend drives, or long-distance travel, the M3 CS Touring offers an enticing blend of usability and performance.

    Expected Arrival and Pricing

While the M3 CS Touring is set to go on sale in major markets from March 2026, BMW South Africa has confirmed its local arrival for the first quarter of 2026 in limited numbers. Given its exclusivity and performance enhancements, it is expected to carry a significant price premium over the standard M3 Touring, which currently starts at R2,218,506. With its blend of high performance, aggressive styling, and everyday practicality, the BMW M3 CS Touring is poised to become a sought-after collector’s item for enthusiasts and BMW loyalists alike. As one of the most powerful estates ever created by BMW’s M division, it represents the perfect fusion of exhilarating speed and everyday usability, making it a standout offering in the high-performance estate segment.
