Heartbreaking N2 Highway Accident Claims Five Lives, Including a 4-Month-Old Baby
Another tragic weekend on the N2 highway in the Eastern Cape, leaving five people dead, including a four-month-old baby, in a devastating head-on collision. The accident occurred between Nanaga and Makhanda on Sunday afternoon.
Fatal Collision Details and Response
According to the Eastern Cape Transport Department, the collision involved a Polo sedan and a Chevrolet Spark, which collided head-on around 4:30 pm. Emergency services responded swiftly, treating the injured passengers and transporting them to nearby hospitals. The accident’s death toll has now reached five, with the victims, unfortunately, including a young infant.

Eastern Cape Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha expressed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and urged all motorists in the province to adhere strictly to road rules. “Most accidents in the Eastern Cape are a result of human behaviour, and we must all take responsibility to ensure safer roads,” Nqatha emphasized.
