Six-Year-Old Dies at McDonald’s – A devastating armed robbery at the Meadowdale McDonald’s in Bedfordview, East Rand, on Friday night claimed the life of a six-year-old boy. The suspects, three armed robbers who stormed the fast-food outlet, remain at large.

According to Sgt. Lillian Modiga, Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, the armed robbers arrived at the McDonald’s drive-through and initially placed a food order. Moments later, they canceled the order, and one of the suspects climbed through the service window, brandishing a firearm.

A second suspect followed, firing a shot as they demanded cash from the register. While the robbery unfolded, a family of three—husband, wife, and their six-year-old son—arrived at the drive-through, unaware of the danger ahead.

When the family noticed the suspicious activity and tried to reverse their vehicle, the third suspect, who had been waiting outside, stopped them at gunpoint.

“He forced the husband and wife to hand over their phones while the other suspects emptied the cash tills,” said Modiga.

As the terrified family attempted to flee, the suspect fired shots at their vehicle. Tragically, one of the bullets struck the six-year-old boy.
