South Africa welcomed its newest Chinese car brand, Jetour, at a glamorous launch event in Sandton City on Friday evening. While Jetour is owned by Chery, it operates as a separate entity, aiming to carve out its own niche in the competitive automotive market.
A Strong Start with Two SUVs
Jetour has made a bold entrance with two impressive medium-sized SUVs set to hit local showrooms on September 21.
Jetour Dashing
The first model, the Jetour Dashing, is a five-seater that boasts a striking design. Priced at R439,900 for the base model and R469,900 for the Deluxe version, it combines aesthetics with functionality. Measuring 4,590mm in length, it is slightly larger than the Chery Tiggo 7, offering ample space for passengers and cargo.

Jetour X70 Plus
For families needing more room, Jetour presents the X70 Plus, a practical seven-seater available in two variants: the Momentum at R454,900 and the Deluxe at R484,900. With a length of 4,749mm, it mirrors the dimensions of the Chery Tiggo 8, making it an excellent option for those who prioritize space.

Performance Specs
Both models are powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, coupled with a six-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox, delivering 115kW and 230Nm. This combination promises a smooth and responsive driving experience.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, Jetour has plans to introduce two additional SUV models, the rugged T1 and T2, in 2025. Jetour Auto President, Mr. Li Xueyong, expressed ambitious goals for the South African market, aiming to sell 2,000 units by the end of this year and a cumulative 30,000 units over the next three years.
Global Reach and Local Support
Founded in 2018, Jetour has already established a presence in 60 countries and sold over 1.22 million vehicles globally. In South Africa, the brand will kick off its sales operation with 40 dealer partners, ensuring strong representation and customer support. The importer has also set up a warehouse in Midrand, stocked with over R100 million in parts to facilitate efficient service.
