South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) is one of the biggest competitions in Africa. The league has gained popularity globally and some of its players are high-profile and the most marketable athletes. Today we will take a look at some of the highest-paid players on the continent.

15 Highest-Paid Players in the DStv PSL

1. Keegan Dolly – highest-paid player

  • Team: Kaizer Chiefs
  • Position: Attacking midfielder/Left winger

Having returned to Mzanzi, Dolly signed with Amakhosi, Kaizer Chiefs. He’s reported to be earning over R1.45 Million per month salary, making him the highest-paid soccer player in PSL.

2. Samir Nurkovic

  • Team: TS Galaxy
  • Position: Forward

Nurkovic recently signed a one-year deal with TS Galaxy, another DStv Premiership club, with an option to extend. His salary is reported to be around R930,000 per month, making him the second highest-paid player in the PSL.

3. Bongani Zungu

  • Team: Mamelodi Sundowns
  • Position: Midfielder

Having started his career at a young age, Zungu has continually improved and developed into an outstanding midfielder. He is estimated to be earning a top three highest paid salary of around R700,000 per month playing for Mamelodi Sundowns.

4. Andile Jali

  • Team: Moroka Swallows
  • Position: Midfielder

Popularly referred to as AJ, Andile joined Moroka Swallows FC after a fallout with Sundowns in 2023. His salary was influenced by an international career, we know how international clubs pay footballers worldwide and it was the same with Jali.

AJ earns between R550,000 to R600,000 monthly salary for his midfield role and services. With his experience, he won multiple titles with Sundowns since returning to the Dstv premiership, putting him amongst the highest paid players.

5. Deon Hotto

  • Team: Orlando Pirates
  • Position: Midfielder

A Namibian international footballer currently playing for Orlando Pirates FC and among the highest-paid players in the club this season. Hotto is believed to be earning over R500,000 per month salary at the club.

7. Ronwen Williams

  • Team: Mamelodi Sundowns
  • Position: Goalkeeper

Ronwen Williams, with a monthly salary of R500,000 at Mamelodi Sundowns, has established himself as one of the premier goalkeepers in the league. His exceptional shot-stopping ability, command of the penalty area, and leadership qualities make him a pivotal figure for Sundowns.

8. Itumeleng Khune

  • Team: Kaizer Chiefs
  • Position: Goalkeeper

Called Mzanzi’s number-one goalkeeper, Itu plays for Kaizer Chiefs. He earns a salary of R480,000 at the club as a shot-stopper. While he hasn’t had the best of seasons due to injuries, he remains one of the top earners at Kaizer Chiefs.

 Denis Onyango, earning R450,000 monthly, is a cornerstone of Mamelodi Sundowns’ defensive unit.

The Ugandan goalkeeper is celebrated for his remarkable reflexes, commanding presence in the box, and leadership on and off the pitch.

10. Marcelo Allende

  • Team: Mamelodi Sundowns
  • Position: Midfielder

Marcelo Allende, a key player for Sundowns, is known for his creativity and technical skills. He has become an integral part of the team’s attacking strategy. He is reportedly earning a monthly salary of R430,000.

11. Kennedy Mweene
