The pressure paid off, however, when Darwin Nunez made a block from Sheffield’s goalkeeper’s clearance attempt and the ball found its way into the back of the net to take the Reds into the 1-0 lead within 18 minutes.
However, the Blades, under the guidance of their new manager, Alex Neil, showed remarkable resilience. They refused to sit back and instead pressed high up the pitch, causing problems for Liverpool’s back-line.

Second Half Drama and a Bit of Luck
The second half was a tense affair, with both sides battling for control. Liverpool continued to dominate possession, but their attacks lacked the usual fluidity. Sheffield United, on the other hand, looked dangerous on the counter-attack, threatening to take the lead.
Sheffield United finally caught a break as the cross coming into the goal box connected with .. and scored past goal keeper … for the equaliser in the 58th minute.
The momentum shifted in Liverpool’s favour around the 76th minute.
A blistering shot from Mac Allister, after a deflection from Sheffield’s defenders, found its way at the back of the net once again as the Reds took a 2-1 lead.
Liverpool seemed to gain more confidence in attack, with Mac Allister fancying another attempt from a free kick rewarded, as the ball hit the cross bar.
The Reds found another opportunity as Robertson’s cross made its way to Gakpo who converts a great finish into a goal.
