While some have retired and coached abroad, there is a list of the most successful PSL coaches who are regarded as serial winners. The list of coaches cannot be complete without mentioning the likes of Pitso Mosimane who is in Saudi Arabia while Gordon Igesund is clubless.
However, we select some of the top achievers faces in the PSL and these have tasted glory in the domestic scene but some are yet to lift the DStv Premiership/PSL title.
TROPHIES: Most Successful Coaches In The PSL
As things stand, Mosimane is also among the top achievers in the PSL, he has five PSL titles, two Nedbank and Telkom Knockout Cups, the CAF Champions League, and the Super Cup.
He remains the only South African coach to win the Champions League titles on more than one occasion as he has an extra two with Egyptian side Al Ahly.
MANQOBA MNGQITHI
Formerly with Golden Arrows where he lifted the MTN8 trophy, Mngqithi’s appointment by Mamelodi Sundowns was the best move for him. The Umzimkhulu-born mentor, Mngqithi boasts many titles in the PSL and he tops the list of the top achievers.
A former school teacher, Mngqithi has won every trophy on offer in the South African PSL. Having worked with Mosimane at Sundowns, the 52-year-old coach continues to be a force to be reckoned with at Chloorkop.

Mngqithi has five PSL league titles, two MTN8, one Nedbank Cup, and the Telkom Knockout Cup (Carling Black Knockout). Looking at the African continent, the Masandawana boss boasts the coveted CAF Champions League, African Football League, and Super Cup gold medals.
GAVIN HUNT
Hunt is also one of the most PSL title-winning coaches in the Mzansi top flight. With SuperSport United, he has three PSL titles. After leaving the Tshwane giants, Hunt moved to the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and helped them lift the PSL trophy. Apart from the league honours, he has the MTN8, Nedbank, and Carling Black Label Cups (Carling Black Knockout).
Despite leading Kazier Chiefs to the final of the CAF champions, the four-time PSL winner lost the final to Raja Casablanca.

JOSE RIVEIRO
The Spaniard, Riveiro arrived at Orlando Pirates in July 2022 and he is proving his worth in the PSL. He managed to transform the Buccaneers to a title-winning machine but the PSL trophy continues to elude him. While boasting two MTN8 gold and one Nedbank Cup gold medal, the 46-year-old mentor is still challenging Sundowns to dethrone them and stop their PSL dominance.
With Pirates still in the Ke Yona tournament and having a chance to close the gap on table-topping Sundowns, Riveiro could finish this PSL season with another trophy.

RULANI MOKWENA
Mokwena is the youngest PSL coach to be in charge of the reigning PSL/DStv Premiership champions and there is no doubt about his winning attitude. Sundowns remain unbeaten in the league after playing 18 matches this season and hold the record of playing 42 games without a defeat.
Next to his name are two DStv/PSL titles coupled with the inaugural AFL gold medal. Masandawana are also through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will face Young Africans of Tanzania.

At the same time, they are also set to face Maritzburg United in the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup this weekend. With the entertaining brand of football played by Mokwena coupled with cream of the crop when it comes to talent, Mokwena has a chance to add to his trophy cabinet.
