Requirements:
- A National Diploma in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences.
- Two (2) years of working experience, including internships or experiential learning, will be an added advantage.
- Disclosure of a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
- Profound knowledge of the National Water Act (No.36 of 1998) and the National Environmental Management Act (No.107 of 1998).
- Comprehensive understanding of integrated water resource management and water resource protection.
- Familiarity with the water and environmental sector’s relevant legislation, policies, regulations, principles, guidelines, tools, and procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills, including verbal, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the capability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to work unconventional hours, under pressure, and travel extensively across the country.
- Established liaison and networking skills, particularly related to corporative governance and stakeholder engagement.
Duties:
- Champion the environmental management of water resources in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West.
- Support the development and implementation of Resource Management Plans and Business Plans for state dams in these regions.
- Oversee the access and usage of state dams according to relevant policies and legislation.
- Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) as necessary.
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Program Reports (EMPrs) as required.
- Ensure the water quality of Government Water Works is maintained to standard.
- Guarantee compliance with the relevant legislation and policies for activities at Government Water Works.
- Compile and submit monthly reports to document progress and findings.
