Requirements:

• Educational Qualification: An Engineering degree (B Eng / BSc (Eng)) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in Engineering.
• Registration: Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
• Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license.

Duties:

• Plan, design, operate, and maintain engineering projects: Overseeing the lifecycle of engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
• Develop cost-effective solutions: Creating solutions that are financially viable and meet the required standards, aiming to optimize resources and materials.
• Evaluate and incorporate new technology: Reviewing existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to incorporate new technology and improve existing processes.
• Develop tender specifications: Preparing detailed specifications for tenders to ensure clear communication of project requirements to potential contractors.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards: Evaluating plans and designs by others to ensure they adhere to established norms, standards, and codes of practice. Approving engineering works that meet these criteria.
• Supervise and train engineering staff: Overseeing the work of technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers, providing training and development opportunities to ensure skill and knowledge transfer. Promoting adherence to sound engineering principles and practices.
• Administer performance management and development: Managing the performance of staff, ensuring objectives are met, and providing opportunities for professional development.
• Manage resources: Preparing and consolidating inputs for resource utilization, including budgeting and allocation of materials, to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Ensure adherence to procurement and personnel regulations: Following established procedures for procurement and personnel administration to maintain compliance with legal and organizational standards.
• Monitor and control expenditure: Overseeing budgetary allocations, monitoring expenditure, and reporting on financial performance and service delivery to ensure projects remain within budget and meet delivery timelines.
