Kaizer Chiefs star winger Keagan Dolly sends a warning to Orlando Pirates whom they meet in the Soweto Derby. The winger is confident they can upset their opponents in the Soweto Derby this weekend and issues a warning to their rivals. Dolly says he backs his teammate Wandile Duba who also said he is coming to hurt their Soweto rivals at FNB Stadium.
Soweto Derby: Two Giants Collide
After scoring against Golden Arrows, the 19-year-old Duba said he is not scared of taking on a giant like Pirates and Dolly echoes the same sentiments. The two Soweto giants will renew rivalries in a DStv Premiership contest at the Calabash and the talented star is confident they can beat the former African champions. Coach Jose Riveiro’s men head to their titanic encounter enjoying an upper hand after winning the reverse fixture last year.

However, facing Amakhosi who beat Abafana Bes’thende at the same venue on Tuesday means the Buccaneers will have to sweat for maximum points.
Chiefs Star Dolly’s Warning to Pirates in a Soweto Derby
Ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash versus their enemies, and addressing the media in Sandton, Dolly praised his 19-year-old Chiefs teammate.
“You guys are always waiting for one thing a player says and it makes headlines,” said the former Bafana Bafana winger. “Duba is a fantastic player, he has proved himself in the DDC (DStv Diski Challenge), where he scored lots of goals, and on Tuesday he saved us, he scored a goal and we want.”
Looking back at the first-round encounter, striker Evidence Makgopa scored for the Sea Robbers and the left-footed winger expects a tough one this time around.
Dolly’s Warning to Soweto Derby Rivals Pirates
The former Mamelodi Sundowns winger adds that Duma will be available to face the Mayfair-based side despite injury concerns. Duba couldn’t finish the match against Arrows as he looked to be suffering from cramps as they won 1-0.
“He is fine, he hadn’t played in a while, and with the first team, in the PSL it is a different game when you play with top-level players,” he added. “So for him, it was just a bit of fatigue, nothing serious and he is doing well in preparation. It is going well for all of us, and you know when it comes to the derby, everyone is ready!”
Meanwhile, coach Cavin Johnson said he is honored to coach Chiefs in a big clash such as a Soweto Derby. “We have prepared ourselves well for this particular derby. And we’re going to go out and enjoy ourselves in front of the 100,000 that we expect to come,” he said with a smile.
Chiefs Aims to Make its Fans Proud
“I’m sure about 99,000 will be Chiefs fans but we expect that and we’re going to go out and do our best. It’s always a big, big, big, big honor to be able to play in this particular Derby, classified as one of the top 10 in the world, you don’t get many. And when you’re the coach of such a big institution like Kaizer Chiefs, and you’re playing against another big institution like Orlando Pirates, it is always an honour.”
“And the preparation that goes into this type of game is always very, I’d like to take the word intense away from it because in the end it’s about football, and where we come from we all enjoyed football playing when we’re young. So we need to take that same energy into the game and enjoy the game from both sides. But we do know that we have to fight for the bragging rights of the derby within the African continent.”
The match is scheduled to start at 15:30 and it’s reported that about 9,000 tickets are available for the match.
