As a Paediatric Specialist, you’re tasked with providing the highest quality of healthcare for children. These duties include but not limited to:
- Coordinate nephrology within the general paediatric service.
- Provide comprehensive patient management in quaternary care.
- Ensure continuation of care in the primary and secondary healthcare sectors.
- Network within the Cluster to optimise patient flow and ensure optimal use of bed capacity.
- Supervise and manage the medical staff.
- Handle administration, ICD 10 coding, and record keeping.
- Attend academic, M&M, and hospital-related meetings.
- Participate in commuted overtime in general paediatrics.
- Encourage personal clinical training.
- Apply and transfer knowledge to students and relate it to clinical research.
Requirements:
- MMed or FCP qualification in Paediatrics.
- Proof of registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- An interest and experience in nephrology.
- A Certificate in Paediatric Nephrology will be an advantage.
- Essential skills include problem-solving and firm decision-making, strong leadership, effective communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Participation in academic activities of the Department is crucial, encompassing both pre-and post-graduate training as well as involvement in clinical research.
- Continuous education and evaluation in the clinical setting of Paediatrics are required.
- Advanced computer skills applicable to patient care and management.
