About the FAIS Ombud
The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) was established by the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002. It aims to consider and dispose of complaints in a fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner. Located in the east of Pretoria, Gauteng, the FAIS Ombud distinguishes itself through its commitment to resolving financial services-related disputes equitably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Systems Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis to identify root causes of system and application issues, proposing effective solutions.
- Proactive User Support: Engage with users to preemptively identify potential issues and provide tailored support, enhancing user satisfaction.
- Strategic Upgrade Planning: Plan and execute strategic software and hardware upgrades to optimize performance and ensure system reliability.
- License and Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage software licenses and SLAs with vendors to ensure favorable terms and compliance.
- Robust Security Protocols: Develop and enforce robust information security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Comprehensive Training Programs: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to enhance staff competencies in using IT systems effectively.
- Policy Development and Compliance: Assist in the development and implementation of ICT policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- National Diploma in IT/Computer Science/Information System.
- 3+ years’ experience in ICT systems development, support, and maintenance.
- Skills in Microsoft Dynamics 365, SQL, Cloud Database Administration, and basic networking.
- Project management skills and experience in SDLC.
- Experience in Sage 300 (Accpac) and Sage 300 People.
Skills and Competence:
- Proficiency in cybersecurity practices and data protection laws to ensure the organization’s compliance and safeguard against breaches.
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions, enhancing the organization’s agility and scalability.
- Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, necessary for collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing high-quality support to users.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies to improve project delivery times and adapt to changing requirements.
