Requirements:

• Electrical trade test certificate.
• Five (5) years post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
• Disclosure of a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
• Skills in technical report writing.
• Communication and computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge and experience regarding compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act in the workshop and site environments.
• Experience in heavy current (11kV) equipment, switchgear, variable speed motors, control circuits of large pump stations (2000kVa) involving PLCs, etc.
• Willingness to travel to remote areas and overnight stay away from home on a regular basis.

Duties:

• Manage electrical infrastructure and ensure compliance with prescribed standards for safe and serviceable infrastructure including motors, switchgear, pumps, valves/sluices controls, drives, cranes, and PLC systems.
• Conduct planned maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled repairs, and refurbishment projects on government water schemes.
• Manufacture items with own planning from design drawings.
• Liaise with Supply Chain Management for quotations from suppliers and ensure product compliance with specifications, regulations, and standards.
• Accept appointment as a Section 2(1) responsible person for electrical equipment.
• Evaluate and identify staff training needs and assist with the training facilitation process.
• Manage and evaluate staff performance on an ongoing basis.
• Availability for standby and occasional overtime work, including weekends and public holidays.
