The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) has been a cornerstone of trade relations between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa since its inception in 2000. This year, the 20th AGOA Forum is set to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 2nd to 4th November. The theme for this year’s forum is “Partnering to Build a Resilient, Sustainable, and Inclusive AGOA to Support Economic Development, Industrialisation, and Quality Job Creation.”

AGOA Forum: An Opportunity to Forge New Partnerships
The AGOA Forum is not just a platform for dialogue but an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services. This year, the Private Sector Trade Expo, organized in collaboration with the Corporate Council on Africa, the South African Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, AMCHAM South Africa, BBC, BLSA, BUSA, and the U.S. Government, promises to be a highlight. The expo will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, offering businesses a chance to network, collaborate, and forge new partnerships.
Moreover, the forum will feature media briefings, including one with the South African Minister of Trade and another with USTR and Department of State officials. These briefings will provide insights into the current state of trade relations and prospects.
As the date approaches, the anticipation is palpable. The AGOA Forum is not just an event; it is an opportunity – for businesses to grow, for governments to collaborate, and for the people of Sub-Saharan Africa to integrate further into the global economy.
