Primary Function of the Research Admin Assistant
- Provide administrative support to the Research unit.
- Ensure that templates and documents are stored and maintained.
- Manage research staff meetings.
- Assist with the management of research.
- Manage sub-directorate activities including oversight visits, strategic planning sessions, study tours, department staff meetings, conference attendance, workshops, and other events.
- Perform assigned duties and tasks as and when requested by the Deputy Director.
Minimum Requirement for the Research Admin Assistant Role
To qualify to be the city’s Research Admin Assistant Role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Must have a Grade 12/NQF level 4 plus certificate in Administration/NQF level 5.
- Must have 6 – 12 months experience in administration.
- Must have a basic knowledge of administration, record keeping, and minute taking/writing.
- Must have experience in identifying problematic areas in government processes.
- Must have knowledge of document management and information management.
- Must understand the political environment and public sector/local government processes.
- Must have basic research knowledge.

- Assist in ensuring that the sub-directorate is compliant with the terms and conditions of service staff time management.
- Effectively and efficiently support the office of the Research sub-directorate.
