The Young Professionals in Training Programme at Transnet is offering positions to 3 graduates for training in the Advisory Support Services division. They will be working together with the General Manager to conduct built environment studies. Read to the end of this article to find out how to apply.
Purpose of the Young Professionals in Training Position
- To work with the Integration and Spatial Planning Team in conducting built environment studies, analyse and oversee concept designs and site drawings and renderings related to site and property development inform architectural design standards and regulations, and assist in the collecting of site and building design projects as derived from Transnet Property and facility Design PSP programme implementation or as directed.
- To oversee coordinating project assignments, built environment meetings, and monitoring projects for execution.
- To compile Project Drawings for Reports (monthly and quarterly) for Team presentation.
- To assist in carrying out site visits and support consultation sessions with stakeholders, and advance business and marketability activities under the direction of the ISP Team.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Young Professionals in Training Position
Assist with the effective running of Integrated and Spatial Planning, Master Planning, Architectural drawing projects, and site analysis from site market developability, concept design, research, reporting/presentation, and production for monthly progress meetings and as needed:
- Produce construction, tender, and as-built drawings and documentation.
- Produce project proposals and concepts.
- Prepare fee proposals.
- Prepare and submit applications for statutory approvals.
- Make bids on potential building projects.
- Work with the project team and stakeholders to determine requirements for building projects.
- Develop initial estimates on structure costs, building time, and special requirements.
- Prepare detailed drawings showing both the appearance and interior structure of a building project.
- Development of project drawings, studies, and budgets.
- Preparing work contracts for building subcontractors
- Visiting building worksites to ensure work is being done according to architectural plans.
- Develop and conduct presentations to inform the public about upcoming public building projects.
- Attend client and project team meetings.
- Attend site meetings and perform site inspections.
