For thousands of hopeful Nasi iSpani solar technician applicants, all roads will lead to the Orlando Stadium this week. Nasi iSpani is a Gauteng Government recruitment initiative, in partnership with merSETA, that officially began in June 2023. The campaign’s tagline is “Less Talk, More Work,” emphasising the goal of practically tackling the challenges of youth unemployment and poverty the country is grappling with. Gauteng has almost 6 million young people, and just over 2 million of them are unemployed.
Confirmed Nasi iSpani Solar Technicians Urged to Meet at Orlando Stadium to Confirm Their Appointment
According to the premier, the Nasi iSpani initiative attracted over 1.23 million applicants (most of them females) for the 8,000 posts advertised; that is more than half the unemployed youth in the regional metros. The jobs required applicants below the age of 35. But Thursday 27 July 2023 will be a great day for six thousand of them since those that have been confirmed will be receiving their appointment letters for training as solar technicians. Applicants must be at the Orlando Stadium by 10 am.
This comes after the province recruited and trained 6,000 Crime Prevention Wardens to help in the fight against crime and lawlessness in Gauteng as well as 6,000 members of the green army through an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) to keep the region clean.
The Nasi iSpani Campaign to Continue with 1,000 Jobs Made Available
The Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) added 1,000 more vacancies under the EPWP in July 2023. Not only will these welcome opportunities bring some more relief to unemployed youth, but adults will be eligible to apply too. The DID is looking for Vacant Land & Facilities Maintenance workers. The positions are available until 31 July 2023, find out more about this here.
If you are a confirmed applicant, do not hesitate to get to the Orlando Stadium on Thursday 27 July.
