Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 Cancelled: Refunds Still Pending

The Hey Neighbour Festival has been a key highlight on Gauteng’s event calendar, but recent developments have led to the cancellation of the 2025 edition. The festival, which was initially set to take place later this year, will now return in 2026, giving organizers the necessary time to make adjustments and ensure a better experience for future attendees.

Why Was the Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 Cancelled?

The decision to cancel the Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 came as a result of several challenges, primarily concerning logistical constraints and the need to ensure the event’s long-term success. Organisers stated that the event would not meet the high standards expected by the festival’s community unless more time was allocated to secure the necessary artist lineup, secure funding, and create an immersive experience that resonates with the festival’s signature spirit of community and connection.

Glen Netshipise, the CEO of Hey Neighbour, shared his thoughts on the decision:

“Our promise has always been to throw the ultimate neighbourhood block party, one that lives up to the incredible loyalty of our Hey Neighbour family. Rushing the process with current constraints would compromise the very heart of what makes this event special. This difficult but necessary decision allows us the time to build a solid foundation for a spectacular celebration in 2026. We’re committed to creating a festival worth the wait.”

This statement clearly indicates that the organisers are dedicated to ensuring the Hey Neighbour Festival becomes a high-quality event that offers an unforgettable experience, rather than rushing through the process.

What Happens to the Tickets?

Ticket holders for the 2025 festival have been given clear instructions on how to proceed with their purchased tickets. According to Hey Neighbour organisers, there is no rush to request a refund.

All current ticket holders will receive direct communication via email with detailed options. This ensures that attendees can decide whether they want to keep their tickets for the rescheduled event in 2026 or opt for a refund. Importantly, there is no deadline to request a refund, which provides ample time for festival-goers to make their decision.

For those who choose to keep their tickets, they will automatically be valid for the next edition of the festival. If any ticket holders decide against attending in 2026, they can easily follow the refund process.

How to Request a Refund

The Hey Neighbour Festival has simplified the refund process for all ticket holders. The refund process is carried out through the festival’s official ticketing platform, which can be accessed via tickets.heyneighbour.co.za.

To request a refund, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the official ticketing platform.
  2. Click on the “Order Icon” at the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select “View Order.”
  4. Click “Make Changes,” then “Cancel Order.”
  5. Select “Bank Account Refund” to choose your preferred refund method.
  6. Enter your banking details carefully, as incorrect details will delay processing.
  7. Provide the reason for your refund request and follow the prompts to finalize your request.

It’s important to note that complimentary tickets or tickets transferred to other people are not eligible for refunds. This policy ensures a smooth and accurate refund process for all participants.

Refunds for Transferred and Allocated Tickets

If you have received a transferred ticket or a ticket that was allocated to you by someone else, here’s what you need to know:

  • Refunds for Transferred Tickets: If you received a ticket that was transferred to you by another person, the refund will be processed to you as the current ticket holder.
  • Refunds for Allocated Tickets: Tickets allocated to you by another individual will see the refund being processed back to the original ticket holder.

This policy ensures that all refunds are handled fairly and accurately based on the original purchaser of the tickets.

Future of the Hey Neighbour Festival: Looking Ahead to 2026

Although the 2025 edition has been cancelled, there is good news for those who were excited about the festival. Organisers have already set their sights on 2026 and are working tirelessly to build a much stronger and better festival. The delay will allow the team to secure the talent needed for the artist lineup, ensure ample funding, and create an event that fully embodies the Hey Neighbour Festival spirit.

It’s clear from Glen Netshipise’s comments that the goal is to create something truly spectacular:

“Rushing the process with current constraints would compromise the very heart of what makes this event special.”

By postponing the event, the team hopes to ensure a flawless experience for everyone in 2026, guaranteeing a festival that delivers on its promises and exceeds expectations.

How Will Organisers Keep Fans Updated?

Fans eager to stay up to date with developments surrounding the Hey Neighbour Festival can rest assured that updates will be readily available. The event organisers have committed to keeping all attendees and potential festival-goers informed via their official social media channels and event website.

Regular updates on the festival’s development will be shared in the coming months, with details on ticket sales, artist lineups, and other important information. Fans are encouraged to stay connected with Hey Neighbour on their official social media platforms for real-time updates and announcements.

Is the Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 Cancellation a Sign of Bigger Changes?

While the cancellation of the Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 is undoubtedly disappointing for many, it also signals positive changes for the future. The decision to cancel and reschedule the event shows that the organizers are serious about the festival’s long-term sustainability and success. By allowing themselves the necessary time to secure all the required resources—such as funding and talent—they are aiming for a bigger, more inclusive, and better-executed event in 2026.

In an increasingly competitive market, it is crucial for festivals to evolve and adapt. The organizers are making strategic decisions to ensure that Hey Neighbour remains an iconic event that people look forward to year after year.

What’s Next for Hey Neighbour Fans?

Though the cancellation of the Hey Neighbour Festival 2025 has left many disappointed, the promise of a bigger and better event in 2026 brings optimism. Organisers are prioritising the quality and sustainability of the event, ensuring that the community’s loyalty and excitement will be rewarded in the future.

For ticket holders, the refund process has been streamlined, and updates will be provided regularly to keep everyone in the loop. It’s clear that the Hey Neighbour team is committed to delivering an unforgettable experience that is true to its roots.

Stay tuned for more updates, and mark your calendars for the return of Hey Neighbour in 2026!
