Johannesburg residents, brace yourselves! City Power Johannesburg has announced planned power outages across 24 suburbs. The outages, scheduled for specific days, will last for eight hours each as part of essential maintenance work.

Why the Outage?
City Power Johannesburg stated the interruptions are necessary to maintain and upgrade the electricity network. The utility urged residents to treat all electricity supply points as live, even during the scheduled outages, as power may be restored at any time.

- Bordeaux Substation (9:00 to 17:00): Bordeaux, Blairgowrie
- Domkrag Switching Station (8:00 to 16:00): Portion of Robertville

- Staugh Vorster Switching Station (9:00 to 17:00): 15th and 16th Road, Pharmaceutical on 16th Road

- Lotus Substation (8:00 to 16:00): Hospital Hill, Vlakfontein

Current Outage Updates
City Power is also addressing multiple unplanned outages citywide, with 572 open calls logged, 476 of which were reported in the last 24 hours. Updates on key substations include:
- Bree Substation: Repairs are ongoing following cable theft. Testing is in progress to determine restoration timelines for areas like Bree, Bank City, and Pritchard.
- Fort Substation: Power restoration is at 90%, with areas like Berea and Joubert Park nearly back to normal.
- Kazerne Substation: Restoration is at 70% for Marshalltown and nearby areas.
- Van Beek Substation: 90% of the power has been restored for Marshalltown, with the remaining work underway.
