Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako emphasized that there is no need for beneficiaries to change their payment method or make any immediate adjustments. “Gold Card beneficiaries in areas where we have not yet started issuing Black Cards need not be concerned as we will be taking the cards to where they live in every part of the country,” he said.

The Postbank Black Card Rollout

The Postbank Black Card rollout is now underway in four provinces: KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Gauteng, Northern Cape, and North West. The transition to the new card is being carried out methodically, with Postbank working to replace all Gold Cards across the country. While a specific completion date has not been set, the rollout will continue until every beneficiary has received their new Black Card.

The new Postbank Black Card comes with several advantages, including enhanced security features and compliance with updated banking standards. How to Collect the New Black Card

Beneficiaries who are able to travel and collect their new cards will need to bring either their ID or a temporary ID to selected retailers. If someone is collecting the card on behalf of a beneficiary, the beneficiary does not need to be present. However, the person collecting the card must provide an official SASSA authorisation letter to ensure the process is completed correctly.

Beneficiaries who lose their cards will continue to enjoy the same benefits as they did with the Gold Card. These benefits include free first card replacements, three free withdrawals per month at participating stores, one free monthly statement over the counter, and no unauthorized deductions.
