About the Company

ETDP SETA is dedicated to promoting education, training, and development within South Africa. By providing financial assistance to students, ETDP SETA aims to enhance the skills and knowledge base of the South African workforce, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.

ETDP SETA Bursary Overview

  • Company: Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA)

  • Closing Date: 16 February 2024

Qualifications are Funded by the ETDP SETA

  • Universities (Public and Accredited Private Institutions)
  • Universities of Technology
  • Public and Private Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges

  • Professional Degree: NQF Level 8 (B.Ed; B.Ed Honours and Honours for specified programs)

  • Diploma: NQF Level 6 (Any field of study)
  • Advanced Diploma: NQF Level 7 (Any field of study)
  • Higher Certificate: NQF Level 5 (Any field of study)

Bursary Value

The ETDP SETA Bursary program is designed to alleviate the financial burden on students, ensuring they can focus on their studies without the stress of financial constraints. The bursary covers a wide range of expenses, making it a substantial form of financial support for South African students. Here’s a detailed look at what the bursary includes:

Tuition Fees: The bursary fully covers tuition fees for the duration of the study program. This ensures that students can attend their courses without worrying about the cost of education, which is often a significant barrier to higher education access.

Accommodation Fees: Understanding the importance of safe and convenient housing for academic success, the ETDP SETA Bursary also covers accommodation fees. This includes:

  • University/College Owned Accommodation: For students residing in accommodation provided by their educational institution, the bursary covers the total cost, including a meal allowance. This ensures that students have a comfortable living environment conducive to studying.
  • Accredited Private Accommodation: For students opting for private housing approved by their institution, the bursary provides a meal allowance directly to the students, in addition to covering accommodation costs. This flexibility allows students to choose housing that best suits their needs while maintaining a focus on their studies.

Learning Materials: The cost of textbooks, stationery, and other learning materials can quickly add up, posing an additional financial challenge. The ETDP SETA Bursary addresses this by covering the expenses associated with essential learning materials. This includes:

  • Books and Stationery: All required textbooks and stationery for the course of study are covered, ensuring students have the necessary resources to succeed academically.
  • Laptop: Recognizing the increasing importance of digital resources and online learning, the bursary includes a provision for a laptop. This ensures that all students have access to digital learning platforms, software, and online resources, which are essential for completing assignments, research, and staying connected with their courses.

Who Should Apply

This bursary opportunity is open exclusively to South African citizens who are:

  • Students who have completed their National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and intend to pursue higher education in 2024.
  • Currently accepted or registered students at higher education institutions who require funding for the 2024 academic year.

How to Apply

Required Documents:

  • Letter of acceptance and/or registration from the institution or proof of registration
  • Certified copy of proof of identity (not older than six months)
  • Statement of results and proof of registration for both current and new students (if already registered)
  • One-page letter of motivation explaining why ETDP SETA should award you a bursary
  • Matric results/highest qualification

Application Process:

  • Complete the application form provided on page three of the ETDP SETA bursary document.
  • Attach all required documents listed above.
  • Ensure all information is complete and accurate. Incomplete or incorrect applications will be disqualified.
  • Submit your application by the province based on the location of the institution that issued the letter of acceptance or registration.
  • Note that only successful applicants will be notified within seven working days after the closing date.

Additional Tips and Information

  • Ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria before applying.
  • Double-check that all required documents are included and up to date.
  • Write a compelling motivation letter to increase your chances of being selected.
  • Remember, you may not submit more than one application and cannot have another existing bursary linked to your name.

Conclusion

The ETDP SETA bursary program presents a fantastic opportunity for unemployed South African students to achieve their academic goals and contribute to the country’s development. By following the application guidelines and preparing your documents carefully, you can maximize your chances of securing this valuable financial support for your studies in 2024.
