Gauteng is nicknamed Maboneng (the province of lights in Sesotho) because it is an economic hub that attracts people from all over the country and the world. There is never a shortage of things to taste, see, and do in the region, especially in August 2023, when its residents are gearing up for the end of winter and the end of the year. It will also be Women’s Month so there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate. The variety of experiences can keep anyone busy all month long. This article will go through the biggest events in Gauteng to take note of so you can spectacularly experience this province. Prepare to be intoxicated, educated, and entertained.

Decorex Joburg, a pioneer of décor and design on the continent, is turning 30 years old. This exceptional event has maintained its reputation by growing into a style platform with top-notch exhibitions, features, and activations from over 13 000 exhibitors.

This occasion will be celebrated with an extraordinary four-day experience. All four levels of the Sandton Convention Centre will be explosive and vibrant, hosting over 400 brands. Trevor Gumbi is a seasoned South African comedian, writer, and actor. While outspoken and sometimes controversial, Gumbi is active in most environments, entertaining partygoers, and corporate executives alike with his tailored material.

Gumbi has appeared at several major comedy events in the country, including performing at Oppikoppi, Rocking the Daisies, King-size comedy jams, Blacks Only, Laugh out Loud, and the Arts Alive comedy festival.

Pretoria Zoo Women’s Day Party 2023

Pretoria Zoo, 232 Boom Street, Pretoria

Be a member of a fabulous crowd especially celebrating Women’s Day at the SANBI Pretoria Zoo. This party will have some amazing performers that you will not want to miss. There will also be performances from an exciting line-up of DJs.

Cape Town’s famous youth event, Prime, is back in Johannesburg at Hallmark House for a ‘pre-public holiday’ party. With a roster that includes a mix of genres including Trap, R&B, House, Gqom, and more, put together by local DJs, this event will make attendees grateful that they can recover the next day.

Entrepreneurship Education in Africa (EEA) Summit

African Leadership Academy, 1050 Printech Avenue, Honeydew

The Entrepreneurship Education in Africa (EEA) Summit will be bringing together key stakeholders from across the continent who support and celebrate young entrepreneurs. The event will explore and celebrate excellence and new approaches in youth entrepreneurship education and support.

Educators, investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from across Africa will form part of the gathering. The EEA Summit will allow delegates to delve deeper into entrepreneurship education and see the important work of very young entrepreneurs and the ecosystem that supports their efforts.

Tickets can be purchased from the Eventbrite website. At almost R1,000 a ticket, the event is not cheap, but the content of the summit and the exposure received will be more than worth it.

The Vault2.0 Women’s Day Event

Saturday, 12 August 2023, 14:00 until late

Where:

Level Three in Kramerville, Sandton

To mark a day that stands out in every Women’s calendar, four powerhouse ladies in the form of Swazi Cele, Fif_Laaa, Rosetta D33p, and DJ Buhle will take event attendees down the musical road of Hip-Hop, Afro House, and Old School House that will keep everyone in high spirits throughout the day.

Rising superstar Russell Zuma and the timeless Kaylow will also be singing as part of this momentous occasion. DonKat from the PianoHub, who will be making his first of many appearances at the Vault, will be giving some Amapiano fire. And resident DJs: Doda, TwoTone DJs, and Zimzet, will end the event on a high note.
