The tragic Reiger Park Mass Shooting has shaken the Boksburg community, leaving six people dead and three injured. In response, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola is expected to meet with Gauteng police leadership to address the crisis. Drive-by Attack Leaves Six Dead in Reiger Park

On the evening of Saturday, 1 November 2025, two cars opened fire on a group of people on Williams Road in Reiger Park. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a silver Polo and a black Polo drove through the area, shooting randomly. Three women and three men lost their lives, while three others remain in the hospital.

Masemola to Meet Gauteng Police Leadership for Urgent Strategy Session

In light of the escalating violence, Masemola will meet Gauteng’s Acting Police Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, to assess the situation and deploy additional resources. As confirmed by SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, more officers will be sent to Reiger Park to prevent further bloodshed.

“Masemola will announce the deployment of additional officers to the area to prevent and combat further violence,” said Mathe .

Turf War Suspected Amid Gang Violence

Experts believe this deadly shooting is part of an ongoing gang turf war in Gauteng. The attack occurred just hours after the funeral of a known gang member, prompting concerns about retaliation and power struggles between rival groups.

Organised crime expert Chad Thomas explained:

“There appears to be a turf war of sorts taking place. These types of incidents are increasing across Gauteng”

Community in Shock and Fear

The community of Reiger Park remains traumatised. Residents have called for justice and long-term safety measures. Fear of further attacks has gripped the neighbourhood, with some residents enforcing self-imposed curfews.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi also condemned the attack, stating:

“Justice must be served. Because we can’t allow this to happen”

Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the Reiger Park Mass Shooting. While no arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing. Colonel Nevhuhulwi urged the public to cooperate with the police:

“The Acting Provincial Commissioner appeals to the community to report any criminal activity on Crime Stop or MySAPSApp.”
