Residents across Gauteng will experience planned power cuts this week as Eskom continues its Gauteng Load Reduction Schedule from Monday, 27 October to Friday, 31 October 2025. The schedule aims to prevent network overloading and protect electrical infrastructure in high-demand areas.

Why Load Reduction is Implemented

Load reduction differs from national load shedding. It is a targeted intervention applied during peak morning and evening hours in areas where electricity theft, illegal connections, or overloaded transformers threaten the network.
Eskom uses these measures to avoid total blackouts and maintain stability across Gauteng’s electricity grid.

Morning Schedule (05h00 – 09h00)

From Monday to Friday, selected areas will experience morning interruptions as part of the Gauteng Load Reduction Schedule.

What Residents Should Do

  • Check Your Block: Verify your block number from Eskom’s official Gauteng Load Reduction Schedule map.
  • Prepare in Advance: Charge essential devices, prepare meals before scheduled times, and keep backup lighting available.
  • Avoid Overloading: Switch off high-consumption appliances when power returns to reduce surge risks.
  • Stay Informed: Follow Eskom and your municipality’s social media for live updates and changes.

Impact on Businesses and Commuters

Small businesses and home offices may face disruptions, particularly in Soweto, Sebokeng, and Katlehong. Commuters using electric-powered transport or working from home are advised to plan for outages during early morning or evening hours.

Where to Get Gauteng Load Reduction Schedule Updates

Residents can track real-time information via:

  • EskomSePush App – for updated schedules and push notifications.
  • Eskom Gauteng Twitter/X (@Eskom_SA) – for regional updates.
  • Municipal Customer Portals – for area-specific information.

Final Note

The Gauteng Load Reduction Schedule for 27–31 October 2025 is part of Eskom’s ongoing effort to manage grid stability while addressing high-demand pressure zones. Although inconvenient, these scheduled reductions are critical to preventing permanent infrastructure damage and ensuring that essential services remain powered.

Residents are encouraged to follow official communication channels and use energy responsibly to help reduce strain on the network.
