Peak Travel Times

- Busiest routes: Pretoria/Centurion to Sandton and Johannesburg in the mornings, and the reverse in the afternoons
- Airport line: Busy throughout the day, especially midday and early evening
During these times, Gautrain runs trains every 10 minutes to handle the rush.

Gautrain Travel Tips for Commuters
- Beat the crowds: Travel just before 06:30 or after 09:00 in the mornings, and before 16:00 or after 18:30 in the evenings.
- Load your Gautrain card early: Keep at least R38 balance before tapping in.
- Parking alert: Sandton station parking fills up quickly on weekdays—arrive early.
- Stand smart: On 8-car trains, the middle and back coaches are often less crowded.
Travel Tips for Airport Passengers
- Plan around the last train: the final Sandton–OR Tambo train leaves just before 21:00.
- Give yourself extra time if carrying luggage—space is limited during rush hours.
- Use the Gautrain app to check train times live, especially if you’re catching an evening flight.
