As Pyramids FC prepare for the biggest match in their club’s history, star striker Fiston Mayele has moved to downplay speculation about a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, insisting in an exclusive interview with SABC Sport that his priority remains helping the Egyptian club lift the CAF Champions League trophy.
“My focus is on the team and helping Pyramids win the final, and after the final, everyone is free to talk and speculate,” Mayele told SABC Sport during a pre-training media session on Thursday afternoon in Pretoria.
Mayele and his teammates are gearing up to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final this Saturday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. It’s a historic occasion for Pyramids FC, who are appearing in their first-ever final on the continent’s biggest club stage. Mayele’s goals and leadership have been pivotal to their journey.
“I was very happy to score the last goal against Orlando Pirates, but I’m also happy to help the team in any way I can,” he told SABC Sport, referring to his performance in the semi-final.

“I’ve heard the rumours about Kaizer Chiefs, but honestly, my focus is here. We have a final to win and history to make. The rest can wait,” Mayele said.
