Mahindra’s March sales performance marks a nearly 40% jump from the previous record of 1,613 units set just a month earlier in February. This growth has vaulted the brand into the eighth-largest vehicle manufacturer in South Africa, a notable climb just two months after entering the top 10.

March was a month of broken records for Mahindra:

Bakkie sales: 1,256 units (highest ever)

“We are more than thrilled about our sales performance over the past 12 months, but especially by the underlying story told by these numbers,” Gupta said. “The overwhelming majority of sales in the past month and past year were made to individuals. This is a true reflection of the health of the Mahindra brand.”

Local Investment Signals Long-Term Commitment

To support this growth, Mahindra is investing significantly in its local operations. The brand recently broke ground on a new manufacturing facility at the Dube Tradeport in Durban, which will eventually replace its current plant and boast a production capacity exceeding 1,000 units per month.

In addition, Mahindra has opened a new parts distribution centre and training facility in Midrand, which more than doubles its storage and logistics capabilities. This facility will also house the brand’s training centre and special fitment division, enhancing service delivery and dealer support.
