Residents in select areas of Tshwane should prepare for a scheduled water supply interruption due to essential maintenance work.
Affected Areas and Maintenance Details
The City of Tshwane has announced a planned water interruption on Thursday, 3 April 2025, from 08:00 to 16:00. The maintenance work will involve connecting to the water network along Rosalyn Avenue in Waterkloof Glen.
Areas expected to be affected include Ashley Gardens, De Beer, extensions of Newlands and Waterkloof Glen, as well as Hatfield Christian Church, Hatfield Christian School, Kingswood Village, and Summit Place.
City’s Apology and Water-Saving Recommendations
The City of Tshwane apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this necessary maintenance. Residents are encouraged to adopt water-saving practices, such as refraining from using hosepipes or sprinkler systems for irrigation between 06:00 and 18:00, avoiding washing vehicles with hosepipes, and not filling swimming pools during this period.
Tips for Reducing Water Usage
To support sustainable water use, consider implementing the following measures:
- Install Water-Efficient Fixtures: Use low-flow showerheads and dual-flush toilet cisterns to reduce water consumption.
- Choose Drought-Resistant Plants: Opt for indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in your garden to minimize irrigation needs.
- Practice Smart Cleaning: Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of hosing them down.
- Harvest Rainwater: Collect rainwater for reuse in gardening and other non-potable applications.
- Prevent Evaporation: Cover swimming pools to reduce water loss through evaporation.
- Mindful Brushing: Turn off taps while brushing your teeth to save water.
By adopting these habits, residents can contribute to long-term water security in the region.
