If you’re passionate about building a career in engineering and hands-on trades, Fraser Alexander’s Artisan Development Programme offers an invaluable opportunity. This structured apprenticeship programme is designed to equip young South Africans with industry-specific skills in high-demand trades such as Auto-Electrical, Diesel Mechanics, and Millwright.

For 2024/2025, Fraser Alexander is opening applications for these apprenticeship positions, providing a robust foundation for individuals who are ready to step into the dynamic world of engineering.

Operating across Africa and South America, Fraser Alexander’s services span over 200 sites in countries like South Africa, Botswana, Ghana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania.

The Artisan Development Programme: A Step into the Engineering World

Fraser Alexander’s Artisan Development Programme is a specialized initiative aimed at training the next generation of artisans. This apprenticeship programme is structured to offer practical, hands-on experience, along with theoretical knowledge in specific trades. With mentorship from industry professionals, apprentices are prepared to excel in Auto-Electrical, Diesel Mechanic, and Millwright roles within South Africa’s competitive engineering landscape.

Available Apprenticeship Positions (6 Slots)

The 2024/2025 programme has six openings, spread across the following trades:

  1. Auto-Electrical Apprenticeship (x2 Slots)
    • Qualification Requirements: N3 Engineering Studies in Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, and Motor Electrical Theory.
  2. Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship (x2 Slots)
    • Qualification Requirements: N3 Engineering Studies with Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, and Diesel Trade Theory.
  3. Millwright Apprenticeship (x2 Slots)
    • Qualification Requirements: N3 Engineering Studies including Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Mechotechnology, Electrical Trade Theory/Electrotechnology, and Industrial Electronics.

Each of these positions offers the chance to specialize in a field that is crucial to the engineering sector, particularly within South Africa’s growing mining industry.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the Fraser Alexander Apprenticeships, applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Completed Grade 12 with a minimum 50% pass in Pure Mathematics and Physical Science; OR
    • Completed N3 Engineering Studies relevant to the specific trade.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Clear criminal record.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Medically certified as fit for work.
    • Must pass all client screening and induction processes.

Note: This opportunity is only open to candidates who have not previously participated in a similar apprenticeship programme.
