8-Hour Power Outages Scheduled for These Joburg Areas This Week

Johannesburg residents should prepare for several 8-hour power outages across multiple areas this week. City Power, the city’s electricity supplier, has scheduled planned interruptions for vital maintenance work across the northern, southern, western, and inner-city regions of Johannesburg. These planned power outages will take place between Tuesday, 7 October and Sunday, 12 October, affecting thousands of customers.

Areas Affected by 8-Hour Power Outages in Joburg

City Power’s maintenance work is aimed at improving the electricity network, but it will cause interruptions to the power supply in various parts of Johannesburg. The planned outages will affect both residential and business areas. This is part of City Power’s ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and ensure a more reliable service for residents.

Power Outages Scheduled for These Joburg Areas This Week

From Tuesday to Sunday, customers in different parts of Johannesburg will experience power cuts ranging from 8am to 5pm. The utility provider has highlighted the areas that will face these disruptions, ensuring that residents are aware in advance.

Tuesday, 7 October – Power Interruptions in Two Key Regions

On Tuesday, two areas will experience planned power cuts. The Reuven service delivery centre in Region F will face an 8-hour power outage, with the Robertsham substation being offline from 8am to 4pm. The areas affected include:

  • Adcock Ingram Avenue
  • Sabax Road

Additionally, the Midrand service delivery centre in Region A will experience power interruptions on Tuesday. The Westfield substation will be down from 9am until 5pm. Areas affected by this outage include:

  • Greenstone Hill and its extensions (7, 16, 19, 21, 28, and 30)
  • Blackrock
  • Stoneridge Road East
  • Greenstone Drive
  • Greenstone Shopping Centre
  • Flamingo Shopping Centre
  • Emerald Boulevard North, and several other streets and locations.

Wednesday, 8 October – Power Outages Affect Inner City and Hursthill

On Wednesday, there are power outages planned for two key regions. The Hursthill service delivery centre in Region B will undergo maintenance at the Industria substation, with power being off from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The affected areas include:

  • Croesus
  • Riverlea
  • Industria

Additionally, the Inner City service delivery centre in Region F will also experience an 8-hour power interruption, with the John Ware substation offline from 8am to 4pm. Power will be lost in the following areas:

  • Ntemi Piliso Street
  • Rahima Moosa Street
  • Mariam Makeba Street
  • Lilian Ngoyi Street
  • Helen Joseph Street

Thursday, 9 October – Randburg and Industria Affected

Thursday brings planned outages for the Randburg and Hursthill regions. The Fontainebleau substation maintenance, rescheduled from Wednesday, will cause an 8-hour power interruption from 8am to 4pm. Affected areas include:

  • Robindale Extensions 1, 2, 4, and 5
  • Ferndale
  • Darrenwood
  • Fontainebleau
  • Jacanlee
  • Cresta Extension 3
  • Linden extension
  • Cresta

Meanwhile, the Hursthill service delivery centre will again face an 8-hour interruption at the Industria substation from 8am to 4pm. Areas affected include Industria and parts of Industria West.

Saturday, 11 October – Power Outages in Midrand

On Saturday, 11 October, Midrand will experience an 8-hour power interruption from 8am to 4pm. The Longlake substation will be undergoing maintenance. The areas affected will include:

  • Longlake
  • Longmeadow
  • Linbro Park

Sunday, 12 October – Inner City Power Outages

On Sunday, 12 October, power outages will affect the Inner City area in Region F. The Van Beek substation will undergo maintenance from 8am to 4pm. The power interruptions will impact parts of the following areas:

  • Jeppestown
  • Droste Park
  • City and Suburban

City Power has issued safety warnings, urging all residents to treat electricity supply points as live. Since power may be restored at any time, customers are advised to take extra care. City Power assures residents that these planned outages are necessary for upgrading and maintaining the electricity network.
