Enhanced Connectivity Boosts Travel Options for Passengers
Qatar Airways has announced an increase in flight frequencies to several key destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The expansion aims to accommodate rising travel demand and enhance connectivity for passengers worldwide.
Increased Flights to Durban
As part of its global expansion, Qatar Airways has increased flights between Maputo and Durban from five to seven per week.
This enhancement provides daily connectivity, offering passengers greater flexibility and convenience when travelling between these destinations.
Global Frequency Enhancements
In addition to the increased flights to Durban, it has also augmented frequencies to several other destinations:
- Damascus: Flights increased from three to 14 per week.
- Dar Es Salaam-Kilimanjaro: Flights increased from three to seven per week.
- Entebbe: Flights increased from seven to 11 per week.
- Larnaca: Flights increased from seven to 10 per week.
- London Heathrow: Flights increased from 49 to 56 per week.
- Madrid: Flights increased from 14 to 17 per week, with Qatar Airways and Iberia codeshare flights increasing from 21 to 24 per week.
- Sharjah: Flights increased from 21 to 35 per week.
- Tokyo Narita: Flights increased from 11 to 14 per week.
- Tunis: Flights increased from 10 to 12 per week.
These enhancements reflect Qatar Airways’ commitment to meeting the growing demand for international travel and providing passengers with more options and seamless connections.
Celebrating 20 Years in South Africa
In related news, Qatar Airways recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of service to South Africa. The airline experienced its busiest festive season ever in the country, transporting 84,000 passengers to and from Africa between 22 December 2024 and 6 January 2025—a near 100% increase from the same period in 2019-2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The increase in flight frequencies to Durban and other destinations underscores Qatar Airways’ dedication to enhancing global connectivity and supporting the resurgence of international travel.
