In September, Longwe Twala was granted bail, with conditions that included a prohibition from leaving the country and staying free from drugs and alcohol. After hearing the explanation, Magistrate Abdul Khan found the excuse to be “reasonable.” While the magistrate accepted the explanation, he emphasized that any future absences would lead to more severe consequences, including possible imprisonment. Longwe was released with a warning, but told that he would not be so fortunate next time.
Magistrate Khan stated, “Whether the aunt called or not, I do not know. There is no evidence to the effect. I cannot find that the accused broke any bail conditions. For that reason, the court accepts his explanation and his warning is extended.”
