About the Position: Project Accountant
The Project Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of our projects from conception to completion. Reporting to the Senior Manager: Management Accountant, this position requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for financial management within project environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Accountant plays a vital role in steering the financial integrity and success of Broadband Infraco’s projects. With a direct report to the Senior Manager: Management Accountant, responsibilities extend beyond mere number crunching to strategic financial management. This role is central to:
- Project Financial System Management: From the outset of each project, you will establish and maintain a robust system to manage and track project finances, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lifecycle and Cost Management: You will oversee the entire project lifecycle, anticipating financial needs, and ensuring that costs are accurately recorded, allocated, and managed within budgetary constraints.
- Asset Registration and Cost Allocation: Key to this role is the ability to classify and register assets correctly, ensuring that costs are allocated in a manner that reflects the true financial position and value of each project.
- Supplier Liaison and Cost Control: Acting as the critical link between Broadband Infraco and our suppliers, you will ensure that our cost control systems are understood and adhered to, facilitating smooth financial operations and integrity.
- Financial Tracking and Reporting: Your expertise will enable you to keep a pulse on the financial health of projects, providing detailed reports to Project Managers to aid in effective cost control and financial decision-making.
- Retention Management and Payment Monitoring: You will calculate, track, and ensure the accuracy of retentions, maintaining meticulous records and overseeing the timely execution of payments.
- Financial Accuracy and Compliance: Through trial balance reviews and diligent management of cost re-allocations, you will safeguard the financial accuracy and compliance of project accounts, correcting any misallocations or discrepancies.
- Budgeting and Management Reporting: Your role is pivotal in guiding the budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic financial plans, and delivering timely, relevant management reports to support decision-making and financial health.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for the Project Accountant position will be someone who not only meets the educational and experiential requirements but also embodies the spirit of innovation and excellence that defines Broadband Infraco. We are looking for:
- Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in financial principles and practices.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a financial role, with specific experience in accounts payable, ledger accounts, asset management, and capitalization of assets. Experience in a project management environment is highly valued, as is familiarity with the nuances of capital accounting and accrual accounting processes.
- Technical Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in financial and computer systems is essential, including an understanding of the capital accounting process and the ability to navigate and leverage technology for financial management and reporting.
- Analytical and Report Writing Skills: The capacity to analyze financial data critically and compile comprehensive reports is crucial. Your report writing skills will support effective communication and informed decision-making.
