Unique Things to do in Johannesburg

1. Experience a Shisanyama

Shisanyama means ‘roasting meat’ in the native isiZulu language. Meat is a big cultural feature during ceremonies, rites, and many celebrations, which makes Shisanyamas a modern adaption of these delightful social gatherings. A large plate of the fire-grilled centre-piece is usually accompanied by traditional side dishes such as chakalaka, steamed bread, pap, or spinach. These eateries are littered across the city and are a must-do to dive headfirst into what South Africa has to offer.

2. Take Part in Animal Feeding

The Bothongo Nature Reserve offers visitors the opportunity to watch animals such as Lions, Wild Dogs, and Cheetahs being fed. This can be done during self-drive or guided game drives. Guests to the Lion and Safari Park can get a more interactive experience and can hand-feed a friendly Giraffe during a guided bush walk through the park.

In the twenty-seven years since it first opened its doors, thousands of local and international visitors have flocked to The Carnivore’s unique ‘all you can eat’ dining experience.
